There were several changes made to this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE had been advertising that Asuka would be finding out her SummerSlam opponent on the show. Instead, WWE announced the news on social media earlier in the day. We’ll see Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair taking place at the big pay-per-view event. While Asuka and Charlotte appeared on WWE SmackDown, Bianca Belair did not.

Additionally, Charlotte Flair was not originally slated to compete. The original plans called for IYO SKY to face off against Zelina Vega. That match never happened and Zelina never wound up appearing.

Pwinsider is reporting that the word backstage is that several talents were pulled from the show due to “medical” reasons. One story is that there were some people who either tested positive for COVID-19 or were in close contact with someone who tested positive.

And finally, Drew McIntyre worked a dark match against Ludvig Kaiser following SmackDown.
