NJPW confirmed on Tuesday that company President & CEO Harold Meij will be resigning from his post for the company starting next month. NJPW of America President Takami Ohbar will replace him in the role.

According to Fightful, the wrestlers were skeptical of Meij’s plans for the company. Meij’s major goal was to get NJPW up to $100 million in revenue by the end of 2020, but that was impossible without a major American broadcast TV deal.

One star said that they never completely “bought in” with Meij’s plan and they hoped he would be more proactive in cultivating relationships. Another star said they would have needed more time for his goals to be achieved because of the pandemic.
