Following Ronda Rousey’s WWE return at the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, it was reported that the former UFC fighter would face Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38 and then Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 39.

While Flair handed Ronda Rousey the first singles loss of her WWE career on Night 1 of WrestleMania 38, The Baddest Woman on the Planet defeated The Queen at WrestleMania Backlash to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Rousey was originally supposed to battle Lynch at WrestleMania 39, but now that WWE has taken the SmackDown Women’s Title off her shoulder and placed it around Flair’s waist, those plans are up in the air.

Ahead of the final SmackDown of 2022, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer reported that WWE’s plans have now changed for WrestleMania in Hollywood. He said,

“Right now, [Lynch vs. Rousey] is not the plan. Things change, like we said.

“I don’t know what Ronda’s match is or Becky’s match but as of today, as of this morning, it was said to me it is very unlikely, and another person who is very well-connected said, ‘I heard it’s dead’ and I asked and it’s not dead because nothing’s dead in WWE, somebody could get hurt and…but definitely not the plan right now.”

While it’s evident that Triple H has changed course from Vince McMahon’s original plan for Rousey at the Showcase Of Immortals, it remains to be seen what lies in store for the former UFC megastar on the Road To WrestleMania.
