Shane McMahon made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 39 (Night Two), but he paid a price for it.
While The Miz and Snoop Dogg were announcing the official attendance for the show, Miz became angry with Snoop after what transpired the night before, which resulted in the former having a match with Pat McAfee and being laid out by NFL tight-end George Kittle. Snoop Dogg said he had a surprise in store for The Miz, which brought out the returning Shane McMahon. As an official match between the two men began, McMahon suffered a leg injury. At that point, Snoop Dogg stepped in to face The Miz.
According to multiple reports, Shane McMahon had to be helped to the back as Snoop Dogg improvised and continued the segment with The Miz.
Fightful Select adds that McMahon’s injury is legitimate. WWE referee Jessika Carr received a ton of praise as she was being told what to do on the fly in her ear, which in turn resulted in her relaying that information to both Snoop Dogg and The Miz as they covered for the injury.
Additionally, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter to react to the injury. He said,
“Wishing my good friend @shanemcmahon, the very best after what appeared to be a serious knee injury a few minutes ago at #WrestleMania
Good thing @SnoopDogg was there to pick up the pieces with a couple of wicked right hands, and the best peoples elbow of all time!”
