Don’t expect cinematic matches to become a regular thing in WWE, according to NXT Head Shawn Michaels.

Cinematic matches became popular in 2020 when events had to be held without live fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At NXT Halloween Havoc, WWE used a cinematic style for the start of the NXT Women’s Championship match, which saw Toxic Attraction enter Alba Fyre’s Haunted House.

Speaking in a post-show press conference, Michaels addressed more cinematic matches. He said,

“That’s not something I see us doing a lot, but at Halloween Havoc it just works. We do that outside and the rest of it we bring to the building. That’s not the sort of thing we’d normally do. That’s just the sort of thing to do to continue that idea for Halloween Havoc, so we did it there.”

Matches in this style include the Boneyard match, the Firefly Fun House match, and the 2020 Money in the Bank Ladder match.

Rose would retain her title against Fyre, reaching 362 days (and counting) as champion.
