The WWE’s 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament was filmed at Full Sail University in Orlando. The tournament will begin airing in September on the WWE Network. The finals will air in October at the WWE’s Evolution pay-per-view (PPV).

It looks like some major changes needed to be made to the tournament’s planned finals. WARNING: The rest of this article contains spoilers for the Mae Young Classic tournament. If you do not wish to have the results spoiled please stop reading now!

Now that the tournament has wrapped up taping, it has been revealed that Io Shirai and Toni Storm will be the two women to face each other at the Evolution PPV for the Mae Young Classic finals.

Per a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet‘s Ryan Satin, this wasn’t the initial plan. The original plan was for Tegan Nox to be involved in the finals. Unfortunately Nox suffered a serious leg injury during her quarterfinals match in the tournament.

This forced WWE to change their plans. Nox was actually planned to defeat Io Shirai in the semifinals.
