During a recent interview with Fightful, Impact Wrestling’s Steve Maclin has talked about when he knew he was heading to the company. He also touched on what the original plans were for him on his arrival.
Maclin noted that he knew he was Impact bound the day his WWE contract was up. Also commenting that he spoke with both Tommy Dreamer and D’Lo Brown about coming in before he signed. Maclin also visited a set of tapings in 2020 with Deonna Purrazzo, so had a feel for how things were run within the company
With regards to the original plans for Maclin, Impact pitched the idea of him reuniting with his former tag team partner Westin Blake (formerly Wesley Blake). Maclin however politely declined this idea, saying that it was important for him to at least try a singles run. Blake reportedly understood Maclin’s decision and since then, Maclin has remained undefeated in Impact since his debut.
Steven Maclin is set to face Trey Miquel this Saturday at Impact Wrestling’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view.
