As seen on last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, a name change was teased for Butch.
During the show, a vignette aired featuring Butch and Tyler Bate, where Bate advised Butch to look inward and find the guy who made a name for himself. This seemed to indicate that Butch would be reverting back to his Pete Dunne name.
According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE officials have long talked about having Butch return to his Pete Dunne name. One WWE source said, “it’s exactly what it looks like.”
Vince McMahon was the person who changed Pete Dunne’s name to Butch when he got called up to the main roster in 2022.
