WWE celebrated 25 years of D-Generation X, with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and X-Pac coming to the ring for a segment on the October 10th edition of RAW.

Billy Gunn, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, wasn’t part of the segment.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW President Tony Khan had agreed to let Gunn appear on the show but requested that WWE mention him working for AEW live on the air, which WWE ultimately denied. He wrote,

“Khan agreed to let him do to the show but on the air they would have to mention he’s from AEW, or that AEW allowed him to appear or some wording, but there had to be one mention that in some form he works for AEW, just as WWE already did when they got Mickie James for the Royal Rumble this past year. WWE stalled on the yes or no, and then at the last minute would not agree to it.”

It was noted that if Triple H wanted it to happen, he could have made it happen. It’s possible that WWE didn’t want to risk a chant of ‘Scissor Me Daddy’ or ‘Daddy Ass’ on their show.

Fightful Select adds that talks progressed to the point that WWE prepared travel in Gunn’s name, thinking it would happen. One proposed solution was a lower third graphic with an AEW logo, but that didn’t happen either.
