Carmelo Hayes failed to win the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc (Night Two) after Trick Williams made his surprise return in the main event of the show.
Hayes and Dragunov headlined Tuesday’s show, battling it out for the NXT Title.
Despite a valiant effort, Hayes came up short after the returning Williams came out to the ring.
The distraction allowed Dragunov to nail Hayes with a Torpedo Moscow for the win.
Following the match, Williams stepped in between the ropes and pulled Hayes to his feet.
Before either of them could say anything, the cameras panned backstage where Baron Corbin beat down Dragunov.
Williams was last seen on the October 17th edition of NXT where he was attacked before his scheduled participation in a Fatal Four-Way between Hayes, Williams, Baron Corbin, and Dijak for the title shot.
