WWE ran an angle on last night’s episode of SmackDown where Adam Pearce could pick Roman Reigns’ opponent for the Universal Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. As the show progressed, it appeared that Reigns’ opponent was going to be Seth Rollins. The official WWE on FOX Twitter account actually posted a graphic, seemingly confirming the match. Several hours later, the tweet was deleted and they followed up with the following,
“So, about THAT tweet, we may have jumped the gun but we REALLY hope @ScrapDaddyAP makes it official ‘cause we need it.”
So as of now, the matchup isn’t official yet but it sure appears the company is going in that direction.
The 2022 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event takes place on Saturday, January 29th at The Dome at America’s Center Source in St. Louis, Missouri.
