On a recent edition of his “Oh You Didn’t Know” podcast, ‘Road Dogg’ Jesse James recalled working with The New Day since the very start. He said,

“Kofi’s a good man, a good father, a good husband, a true professional, and I love Kofi Kingston. When they had the choir singing and New Day was on there I was the producer on that thing to go with them. So, I was with them on the get-go, we had a good time.”

James also recalled wanting Big E to get a spot in the 2019 men’s Elimination Chamber match which ultimately went to Kofi Kingston. He said,

“I pitched Big E to be in that thing and to win it all, and I got outvoted and I’m so glad I did because it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, or a more qualified one. I don’t know, I’ve just always been enamored with Big E, I think he’s a great guy, he can cut great promos.”

Kingston’s performance in the match would receive universal praise and lead to the ‘KofiMania’ movement that would see Kofi become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 35.

Big E would win the WWE Championship two years later by cashing in Money in the Bank on Bobby Lashley. He is currently out of action with a broken neck injury.
