On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson discussed beginning her wrestling career in WCW after Kevin Nash reached out to her, her back issues, and more.

Wilson’s back issues eventually forced her to request her WWE release in 2008.

Wilson was released from her WWE contract on May 8, 2008, and she subsequently retired.

You can check out the highlights from the podcast below:

On how she got started in WCW: “I met Kevin Nash, and he had remembered seeing me in a green bikini in a fitness magazine and had asked me if I’d be interested in doing this little three-month storyline that they had – this idea for Ric Flair and his son David Flair, and I was like, ‘Sure.’ I actually started working with an agent that was also Hulk Hogan’s agent, so there was like a little bit of a tie-in right there. So he kind of knew the rope.”

On getting the opportunity: “At first I was kind of like, ‘I don’t know, I want to be an actress.’ I was broke, and this opportunity came and I was like, ‘Shoot, I could travel a little bit.’ That’s all I really wanted to do growing up, was see the world. That thing just kind of snowballed so fast.”

On her back issues: “I’m in better shape probably, but my back doesn’t think so. … I was kind of at this chapter in my life where I was just kind of ready to not be traveling all the time. The person that I was dating had been fired, so it was nice to be home. I had just opened up a clothing store in Texas, I was like, ‘Okay I can do this, I don’t need to travel anymore,’ so I just basically asked if I could have my release.”
