Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:

Kickoff and Fatal 4-Way Match

  • I’m hoping Keith Lee isn’t actually injured and WWE just realized that if they go with Lee vs Lashley at Mania, they shouldn’t have them fight 2 months ahead of time. Pulling him from the match could be a blessing in disguise. Also, having a Fatal 4-Way to determine his replacement is a good idea. Even though that means two times on this show, someone will pull double-duty, it’s the best backup plan.
  • I loved MVP saying Billie Kay works well within The Hurt Business because her voice hurts his ears and he “won’t be in touch.”
  • So Asuka IS getting a replacement opponent. I really hope this isn’t just Peyton Royce or something stupid (and that’s not a shot at Royce, but she’s not winning that title and it would just be a waste of time for Asuka to beat her).
  • As far as the 4-Way, I’m rooting for Ricochet to win. How about you?
  • I’m cool with John Morrison winning, too. Nice work.

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match

  • Damn. I was really hoping they’d start this match with Kevin Owens against Sami Zayn, not that they’d start with both entering pods.
  • Or, rather than starting the match, they can just run multiple promos after everyone comes out. What the hell?
  • I love Kevin Owens shouting out for Cesaro to work on Bryan’s left knee. He should be hoping other people wear each other down. That’s great work. See how awesome Owens is?
  • Nice camerawork with Cesaro entering Zayn’s pod and bouncing him around. I liked that whole bit.
  • With Cesaro and Zayn climbing the chains, does anyone else have flashbacks to that part of Super Mario World?
  • Classic bit, having Zayn try to work out a partnership with Owens.
  • Nice moonsault from Owens off the top of the pod.
  • One-legged swing from Cesaro on Bryan’s bad leg was great!
  • Boooooo on Cesaro being eliminated right after that, though. I was really rooting for him. Well, that means Bryan wins.
  • I guess WWE went with Uso eliminating Cesaro so people wouldn’t be disappointed with Bryan winning (which is a weird thing to say) since he’d take out the guy who took out Cesaro.

Universal Championship Match

  • LOVED Bryan catching Reigns with a Yes Lock at the very start of this and Reigns just powering out.
  • This was all that it needed to be. Short, effective, simple and logical. Fantastic.
  • During the celebration, Edge speared Roman. Not the call I would have made, but it’ll get people talking, that’s for sure.

That was a loud slap from Bad Bunny to The Miz. Yikes.

United States Championship Triple Threat Match

  • This was just a standard match all the way up until the end there. Once MVP’s crutch came into play, I figured the end was near. However, I honestly didn’t expect Riddle would win the title tonight, even with John Morrison replacing Keith Lee. Now, I’m very curious what’s going on. My conspiracy theory is that Lee isn’t injured at all and instead, WWE realized they want to do Riddle vs. Lee at WrestleMania for the US title and didn’t want them fighting here. Then, they wanted to make sure Lashley didn’t look bad, so they needed to find a third person to take the fall to avoid that.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

  • Can I just hit the fast-forward button to the point where people start arguing with each other and lose the match? I say that while fully admitting I’m a fan of three of these superstars, but it just feels like a stop-gap type deal and a potential bad booking decision in the works.
  • I don’t understand the idea of someone getting beaten down, struggling to tag out, and then immediately tagging themselves back in a few seconds later.
  • Why is Reginald part of this story? I don’t understand this idea of keeping the Carmella stuff going.
  • Good. At least they’re not wasting putting the belts on Belair and Banks for a week just for the sake of it.

I guess that whole bit on the pre-show about how they’ll determine a replacement for Lacey Evans was for nothing.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match

  • I chuckled at AJ Styles and Kofi Kingston making fun of Randy Orton’s intimidating staring.
  • WOAH! Kofi Kingston eliminates Orton that fast?! No interference by Bray Wyatt? I’m very, very shocked.
  • Interesting call with Omos removing the pod barricade because AJ Styles wants to jump the gun and capitalize on the RKOs. Adam Pearce steps in to eject Omos from ringside like a good official. I like this.
  • I’m very curious why Jeff Hardy’s been sticking around.
  • Of course, after I say that, he’s gone.
  • AJ Styles pins Sheamus!? Wooooow. I figured that had to be McIntyre taking him out, if The Celtic Warrior didn’t win the match. Completely surprised Styles is the last person here with McIntyre.
  • So McIntyre retains, but we’re getting a cash-in.
  • Theeeere’s Lashley. Wow. They’re really going with The Miz? I have zero faith this is leading in a great direction.
  • The Miz is the new WWE Champion. I’m not opposed to that, in theory, but like I said, I have NO faith this is more than just a means to get people talking for the sake of talking. I don’t think WWE has any real solid great plans for WrestleMania, and I’m not interested in Lashley against McIntyre in a rematch from last year or anything of that sort. Let alone Bad Bunny getting involved in the WWE title hunt. Yeesh…this could be terrible and I hope my fears are put to rest tomorrow night on Raw.
