Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:

Blair Davenport vs. Kelani Jordan

  • I’m curious why this is on the card. But the crowd seems pretty into it. At least, more into it than I anticipated.
  • I will say this, though. Jordan’s got a future. She’s very new to the mix and she’s at a level that some other women on the roster that have been there much longer still aren’t at. That’s in terms of both just feeling comfortable (or at least, looking like it) and not just second-guessing her overly choreographed maneuvers, as well as doing things like selling in a realistic way. Despite how there were more important matches that could have been put on this spot for the event, they did a good job. Thumbs up.
  • Gigi Dolin immediately attacked Davenport following the bell.

The intro is in the style of the No Mercy video game. Very cool!

Baron Corbin vs. Bron Breakker

  • Breakker now has a mask? That was pretty awkward.
  • And Corbin is a biker, coming out on a motorcycle. Well, they’re at least trying to give this a big fight feel, I’ll give them that.
  • Before the bell, they start brawling into the crowd. Breakker even punches some of the security members to stop them from getting involved.
  • Crowd is chanting pretty firmly for Corbin at the start of this. Let’s see if that continues.
  • Breakker was chokeslammed through the commentary table. Then, Breakker speared Corbin on the outside.
  • Mr. Stone interfered, jumping from the top rope into Breakker’s arms. That distraction was enough for Corbin to hit an End of Days and score the win. Solid scrap between these two.

NXT North American Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Trick Williams

  • Dragon Lee made a point to wear a black and white mask to match his referee shirt. Nice.
  • Trick has some serious star power potential. I really hope he goes far, starting with winning this North American Championship right now.
  • A little into the match, Dragon Lee is taken out by a superkick from Dom after Trick ducked.
  • A new ref is out, but not until long enough that Mysterio is able to kick out of a pinning attempt from Williams.
  • Dom takes out the new referee, too.
  • Once again, Trick goes for a cover and there’s no referee. He tries to get Dragon Lee stirring. Dom tries to use the North American Championship belt, but Trick kicks him instead. Lee’s able to make it into the ring and counts the pinfall! New champion!

Footage is shown that last week, Joe Gacy told Ava to leave as Schism isn’t the right family for her.

NXT Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Match

  • Corbin had his motorcycle. OTM has bikes.
  • Tony D and Stacks have some extra members of their family out for their entrance.
  • Uh oh. Tony D goes down with a leg injury of sorts. This is awkward. If they planned this out, they’re doing a good job making it seem real.
  • The babyface and heel dynamics eventually settle the two sides, with The Creed Brothers basically working with Stacks against OTM and Los Lotharios.
  • Tony D is coming back out, so that’s good. He’s fired up.
  • Synchronized quadruple superplexes? Nice!
  • Brutus hits his cannonball maneuver onto a pile of guys. Meanwhile, in the ring, Tony D and Stacks score the pinfall to retain their titles.
  • This was another good match that had the crowd chanting “this is awesome.”

Backstage, Melo and Trick rejoiced in the North American Championship title change.

Also backstage, Becky Lynch is looking for weapons to put into a shopping cart for her Extreme Rules match coming up.

NXT Heritage Cup Championship Match: Noam Dar (c) vs. Butch

  • Butch has Tyler Bate as his second for this match.
  • These British rounds style matches aren’t exactly my thing. They tend to feel, to me, like I’m just waiting longer for the one fall that actually matters. Let’s see if this is any different.
  • Dar goes up one fall, maybe in part due to getting in a cheap shot between rounds.
  • Butch evens it up 1-1 heading into Round 4.
  • Round 5 ends with 1-1. Butch stomps Dar’s hand after the bell.
  • Several false finishes in Round 6, but Gallus interferes. The attack leaves Butch laid out and Dar gets the second pin to retain his trophy.
  • I still think the Heritage Cup doesn’t need to exist at this point. This match didn’t convince me to change my mind about that yet.

NXT Championship Match: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov

  • Normally, I like the dramatic Hayes entrances. Tonight, I didn’t. Just repeating the lines he’s said in recent promos this time around felt blah.
  • Actually, their match hasn’t been anything too standout to me. It’s good, but there isn’t anything to talk about. I’m a little bored at times because it’s just a generic “good match”.
  • Oh hey. New champion. Dragunov wins clean. I had thought there was a chance this could happen, but I was leaning toward Hayes retaining.
  • After the match, he brings up Hayes in a sign of respect.

The competitors in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament are announced: Jakara Jackson, Karmen Petrovic, Lola Vice, Jaida Parker, Izzi Dame, Dani Palmer, Kelani Jordan and Arianna Grace (who competed in last year’s, so that’s strange.)

Tegan Nox is in the crowd for the women’s title match.

NXT Women’s Championship Extreme Rules Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Tiffany Stratton

  • These two are starting this match brawling into the crowd as well.
  • Nothing too “extreme” yet, but that’s to be expected overall, especially early on.
  • Something has gotten Tiffany Stratton busted open on the side of her forehead. I’m not sure what did the trick.
  • They’ve started to bring out some more interesting weapons. Tiffany definitely wasn’t supposed to hit her head on part of a shopping cart, which I think is more on Becky than Stratton.
  • I can’t say Barbie dolls are as menacing as tacks or Lego, but at least it has a funny element to it, especially with Becky just throwing those parts at Stratton, who was swatting away at them with a trash can lid.
  • The barbed wire bat was quickly disposed of. That didn’t amount to too much.
  • There’s a good spot where Becky falls off the commentary table into a chair and Stratton flips onto her.
  • Stratton does a Swanton Bomb onto Becky, but they didn’t fully crash through their table.
  • Stratton rolled through a moonsault attempt on the outside. Nice.
  • After a series of dodges and such, Stratton misses a moonsault and lands onto the pile of chairs. She’s slammed onto them again with a Manhandle Slam and Becky retains. Good match! Hopefully, Lynch’s arm isn’t injured and she’s just selling a kayfabe injury.
