WWE RAW (10/9/2023)
Seth Rollins opens the show being serenaded by the crowd. He is feeling some type of way tonight. Adrenaline is a powerful thing. This past Saturday, in Last Man Standing, Shinsuke Nakamura took him to his limit. There were times he didn’t know he would get back up, but he did. When the match was over and everyone was singing his song, he felt he was on top of the world.
When he got back and the adrenaline wore off, he remembered that his back is still very broken. Being the World Heavyweight Champion has been one of the greatest moments of his career. He wants us to know he is just getting started, baby. He is still going to be a fighting champion, and will take on anyone, anywhere. Maybe we can go one night without him fighting for his life? We can still sing. Drew McIntyre’s music hits.
He joins Seth Rollins in the ring, and he is not here to party. He wants a World title shot. You know what? Seth Rollins doesn’t mind that he isn’t 100%, he will defend it anytime, anywhere. McIntyre tells him to relax. He wants Rollins at 100%. How about a title match at Crown Jewel? Seth isn’t used to his challengers conducting their business in this way. Allow him to get some help. He asks the crowd a question. How does this sound? Crown Jewel, Drew McIntyre vs. Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the World title? They respond well, so Seth says they have a match.
Rollins asks if he wants to party, but he has some business to take care of. As McIntyre walks away, Damian Priest attacks Rollins from behind. He calls for the Judgment Day. Dominik Mysterio shows up with the Money In The Bank briefcase, but Drew stops him. McIntyre takes the case and headbutts Dominik, before throwing the case away. Seth Rollins recovers and sends Priest to the outside, therefore putting an end to the assault.
#1. [Viking Rules] Kofi Kingston vs. Ivar – Winner: Ivar after interference from Valhalla and Xavier Woods
Shinsuke Nakamura has not got much to say. Byron Saxton asks what his goals are. Suddenly, Ricochet appears to settle the score with Nakamura for taking him out.
Backstage, Damian Priest has JD McDonagh pinned up against a wall. Judgment Day aren’t happy about losing the titles. Priest still has the briefcase, so he doesn’t need to do anything about Drew McIntyre. Rhea Ripley tells JD McDonagh to deal with him, and Priest wishes him luck.
#2. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Nia Jax – Winner: No Contest after Rhea Ripley interrupted
Rhea Ripley takes out Rodriguez and Jax. Shayna Baszler pops up to get retribution on Nia, but Ripley cuts her off. As Ripley turns away, Baszler hits a German Suplex on her, before striking with a knee to the face.
Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes talk about being the Undisputed Tag Team Champions. Michael Cole asks Cody how winning this affects him finishing the story. Will it deter him from doing that? Or perhaps he is scared of trying again because he will let people down? He came so close to winning the title, just like his Dad did. Before Cody can answer, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens enter.
They want to talk about how The Usos held the tag titles longer than anyone. And then, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens went to the WrestleMania main event and won. Now, we see Cody and Jey together, this is the story we are talking about. Sami Zayn is happy for Jey winning the tag titles, but, there are some mixed emotions. While they deserve them, he can’t help but feel it should Sami & Kevin holding those titles.
Kevin Owens does not have mixed emotions. He is not happy with them holding those titles, and he wants them back. He would like to challenge them for the titles tonight. However, the problem is, if he does, he knows Jey won’t accept, because he does not want to lose the titles to them twice. Cody Rhodes thinks Kevin misunderstands, because they do accept, and it will happen tonight.
Ricochet is scheduled for the triple threat match, but Shinsuke Nakamura takes him out during his entrance. Officials rush out to keep them apart.
