Aria Blake is an independent wrestler based out of the sunny state of Florida who has continued to compile some outstanding achievements. Just being in the wrestling business alone and using your determination to keep building a resume is a job in itself. A job that Aria makes look very easy.

In just a few short years, her career has already left its trademark on the Indy scene and her fantastic personality keeps her gimmick in overdrive. She has traveled to many different promotions and in 2016 held the ACW Championship for 142 days. Her eloquence within the squared circle keeps her matches filled with interest and the use of her creatively tagged finisher, the Blakeout, keeps the fans piling up at the doors. With a resume like this, Aria Blake will be performing for us for a very long time!

By following the Independent Circuit and their storied careers, I am able to catch up with some of them and conduct an interview from time to time, which allows them to share with us their story. Recently I was able to catch up with Aria and she was gracious enough to put a halt to her busy schedule to discuss her career, future, and accomplishments. This is what she had to say.

 * When did your pro wrestling career begin? How did you get started?

I began managing and training in 2014, but began my in ring career on January 31, 2015. I got started at the Uproar Pro Wrestling as a ring girl and eventually they decided to open a school with Jay Lethal as head trainer. I began training not long after.

* What federations have you worked for along the way?

Full Impact Pro, Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment, American Combat Wrestling, Shine Wrestling, EVOLVE (as a manager), RISE Women’s Wrestling, Brain Buster Pro Wrestling, Platinum Pro Wrestling, FEST, Full Throttle Pro Wrestling, Tampa Bay Pro Wrestling, Uproar Pro Wrestling, Real Pro Wrestling, I Believe in Wrestling, Pro Wrestling 2.0, United States Wrestling Alliance.

* How could you explain the life on an independent wrestler?

It’s a very fun, but crazy lifestyle. It’s a lot of dedication to perfecting what you do and chasing an unconventional dream. It’s days and nights at training, in the gym, studying tape, going to shows, so much more. I don’t think the average follower realizes how time consuming it is; it’s more than just a thing we do on weekends, it’s our lives.

* Are there any funny/crazy road stories you would like to share?

There’s tons, but none I can share.

* When did you decide to go full speed ahead to becoming a professional athlete?

The moment I started.

* How did you decide on your name/gimmick?

Aria is a name I’ve always liked. Dragons have so much meaning to them and I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, so that’s where the idea came from.

* Were there any obstacles on your journey to the ring? If so, what were they and how did you overcome them?

The only real struggle has been balance because I’m also a student. I’ve learned better time management skills now, but it’s definitely been trying at times.

* What are your thoughts on the current status of Women’s Wrestling and how it has been growing?

Women’s wrestling has grown exponentially into something so incredible. Women have been given more opportunities and stages to display their craft to the world. Women’s wrestling has become much more than just bikini contests and bra and panty matches. It’s become something we all can enjoy, be inspired by, and for those of us lucky enough to be in the business, pour our hearts into.

* What would be your dream match?

If I could get in the ring with Sasha Banks, that’d be a dream.

* What would you say is your greatest accomplishment in the sport of professional wrestling?

Actually doing what I set out to do and chase an unreal dream.

* Who would you say has been your toughest opponent to date?

Su Yung

* Who are/were some your favorite wrestlers and why?

Jeff Hardy has always been my favorite wrestler. His charisma and style got me so interested in watching wrestling and kept my attention like no other.

* Who is the real Aria Blake?

A 22 year old vegetarian college senior from Florida who spends her very little spare time with animals, working out, and sleeping.

* What needs to be accomplished in your eyes to be able to look back and call your career a success when it’s all over?

Traveling the world doing what I adore.

***Hopefully you enjoyed this interview and learned some new and interesting things about Aria Blake. The world of wrestling is a demanding business and the time set aside to do this interview should not be underestimated. I would like to personally thank Aria for taking the time to share with me her stories so I could share them with all of you. Her time is greatly appreciated…..
