AEW Revolution 2024 is coming up this Sunday and before the event takes place, let’s run down everything you need to know about the upcoming pay-per-view.
Who is scheduled for the card? How interesting does the show seem? What’s going to happen with all the matches?
Here is a full preview of AEW Revolution 2024.

Heat Index is my assessment of how interesting the segment is, including how excited I am for the match and how intriguing the feud has been. The hotter, the better. Scorching translates to not being able to wait to see it, while Freezing means I couldn’t possibly care less and think it will be awful.
TORNADO TAG TEAM MATCH FOR THE AEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Sting and Darby Allin (c) vs. The Young Bucks
Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Sting and Darby Allin win.
Thoughts: Don’t jump to conclusions and crucify me for not being Scorching on this and think that that means I hate Sting and I’m devaluing his entire career. That’s obviously not the case. But I’m also not going to sugar coat this and say it’s the most interesting feud I’ve ever seen, or that I think it’s going to be an AMAZING match, or anything of that sort. I’m glad Sting is going out on his terms (as much as that could be, as I’m sure this isn’t 100% what he’d want if he had all the power in the world to change things) and I’m glad there’s not a definitive clear winner here. That makes it more interesting. All parties will do their best to put on the best performance possible. It’ll be a special moment. I just think it’s going to be overrated like crazy just because it’s Sting’s final match, whereas I’m being realistic. It’ll be a fun segment, for sure. Well, as long as Ric Flair doesn’t appear. Yikes. My hope is Sting and Allin retain and vacate the titles later. That’s the more interesting scenario than The Young Bucks winning, in my mind.
THREE-WAY MATCH FOR THE AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Samoa Joe (c) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Samoa Joe wins.
Thoughts: Page going full heel here while Swerve has become the de facto babyface is interesting. It leaves Joe to play the tweener part, even though all 3 could effectively be in that position. The crowd loves all of them and none of them are white meat heroes. That’ll be fun to watch unfold. No way Joe is losing the title here. It’s way too early.
SINGLES MATCH FOR THE AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Roderick Strong
Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Roderick Strong wins.
Thoughts: Just as I think there’s no chance Joe drops his title, I think it’s fairly set in stone Orange Cassidy is losing his. Obviously, he was never meant to be holding the title at this particular moment. The transition to Jon Moxley went horribly with an injury to Mox, followed by the Rey Fenix injury. It was all a mess, so the title reverted back to Orange for stability. Strong is a logical option to hold it next and he’ll do a great job defending it, I’m sure. I’m also positive this will be one of the best bouts of the evening.
SINGLES MATCH FOR THE AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) vs. Deonna Purrazzo
Heat Index = Chilly
Prediction: Toni Storm wins.
Thoughts: I hate to be the pessimistic person who calls attention to things like this, but Deonna Purrazzo is going to be the latest example in a long run of people who come into AEW as a big deal, immediately jump straight to the top, challenge for a title, fail their match, and then, have to work their way back up after being sidelined for the next shiny new toy. And we all know who that is. Mercedes Mone is the next champion, and she’ll win it from Storm at Double or Nothing, I’m assuming, unless that AEW Dynasty trademark comes into play first. In the meantime, this will be a lot of the Timeless antics that I haven’t been digging all that much, mixed in with some grappling that frankly, I’m anticipating I’ll be a little bored with after watching nonstop action all night. WWE has a problem in having way too much downtime and wastes half their pay-per-views, while AEW goes on way too long with just a constant bombardment where I get exhausted. The earlier in the night this goes, the more favorable I’ll be to watching it, I’m sure. It’s a foregone conclusion either way, though.
SINGLES MATCH FOR THE AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP
Christian Cage (c) vs. Daniel Garcia
Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Christian Cage wins.
Thoughts: Who do I want to win? Daniel Garcia. Who do I think will win? Christian Cage. It’s almost a no-lose scenario, though, as I’m a big fan of this run for Cage, too. I just think there have been so many opportunities to push Garcia to the next level, and Tony Khan keeps getting cold feet. I’d like to see the guy finally win a midcard belt that isn’t the third most important ROH title. Now would be a good time for that. But I think it’s more likely his role here is to have a good match, come up short, and fill time until Cage’s next opponent gets set up.
SINGLES MATCH FOR THE CONTINENTAL CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP

Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Bryan Danielson
Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Eddie Kingston wins.
Thoughts: Traditionalists probably love this stipulation. I kind of hate it. The title is already on the line. Those handshake ideas only really work for me when there isn’t something else up for grabs, and it’s just a means to add stakes to a non-title match. Kingston’s losing a bit of his charm with all these wins, so I’d like to see Danielson capture the titles, but shake Eddie’s hand after. Alternatively, just do the Kingston retention, have Danielson shake his hand, and move on from this for good, as this has gone on long enough. Yeah, the match will be fun if you love chops and elbows and all. You know what you’re getting. If that’s not your thing, you’re in for a rough 15 minutes.
SINGLES MATCH
Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Will Ospreay wins.
Thoughts: The story’s stupid. Most people won’t care. The match will be great. Will Ospreay is winning. He’s not going to last with The Don Callis Family long after this, if he’s even still part of the group by the end of this event. Dave Meltzer will give it 9 stars. I’ll end up putting it on my Match of the Year list, most likely. Nuff said.
ALL-STAR SCRAMBLE MATCH
Brian Cage vs. Chris Jericho vs. Hook vs. Lance Archer vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Wardlow vs. Magnus vs. Dante Martin (spoilers in white; highlight the text to see)

Prediction: Chris Jericho wins.
Thoughts: I’m curious what the Meat Madness Match was originally supposed to be if the 3 announced people are in this match, but Tony Khan said he was postponing it because of people not being medically cleared to compete. Who else would have been in it that he never announced? And how is this pivot to this All-Star Scramble going to change things? Now, this is for a title opportunity. Maybe the Meat Madness Match was also going to have title implications, but as far as I’m aware, that hadn’t been announced. Assuming the rules here operate the same as WWE’s scramble, I think originally, Wardlow was set to win, but he can lose this and not look weak. My guess goes to Chris Jericho as the biggest name to fight Samoa Joe down the line, but based on AEW’s track record of giving people title shots when they’re lower on the card, it could be almost anyone. I’m also VERY curious why this isn’t a Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. Maybe TK doesn’t like that gimmick anymore, or maybe that was a Cody Rhodes idea and one of the things he’s been stepping away from, like certain talent (a la Shawn Spears) and could even be the reason why we haven’t seen things like the Casino Battle Royale as much in the past year or so. Scrambles and other chaotic things like this are inherently fun. Sign me up.
TAG TEAM MATCH:
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley)
Heat Index = Temperate
Prediction: FTR wins.
Thoughts: Maybe I have the completely wrong idea here, but I think FTR is two matches behind in this feud, so they should not only win it, but that we might end up seeing them against The Young Bucks at the end of a tournament to crown new tag team champions after Sting and Darby Allin vacate the titles. As far as this match within a bubble, 4 talented wrestlers are going to wrestle. What more can you expect? I’ll be a little harsher on this as a middle of the road hype thing since it doesn’t come across as something super fresh, but I’m obviously assuming I’ll enjoy it more than some other matches on this show.
OVERALL PPV:
How excited am I for the event as a whole?
Heat Index = Hot > Lukewarm
Thoughts: I can’t decide if I’m Hot or Lukewarm. On paper, I’d lean more toward Hot. When I remember how tiring these events can be to do coverage for, I start to get a little more Lukewarm. If I had to pick right now, I’d go more in the positive direction, but I have a feeling a few more matches are going to be announced that are going to bog down that whole Zero Hour and make this a 6 hour nonstop thing (basically a full day’s worth of work when you count the prep work and the podcast I do after). Fingers crossed everything goes well, all the matches live up to their potential, and it ends up being a great start to the pay-per-view year for AEW.
