eWN’s Round Table Preview of AEW Revolution 2020

2) “Is it too soon to take the title off Chris Jericho, or is Jon Moxley’s star power and momentum something AEW shouldn’t pass up?”

MANGO: There’s no need to give the belt to Moxley and expunge all the mojo built up for Jericho this fast. Moxley will have his time, undoubtedly. Jericho should hold the title until All Out and drop it to Kenny Omega.

CARTER: I love Jericho as La Champion and he’s done a great job as champ, but I think it’s time to put it on Mox. Other than Cody, he’s THE top face in AEW and I’m a little afraid him losing will hurt him with the fans.

STAPLE: AEW will have a business decision to make, but both would make excellent champions past Revolution. I will say, though, that if there was ever a time to put the title on Moxley, now is when you’d pull the trigger.

MITCHELL: I say ride the wave Jon Moxley’s on. As of February 29th, he will still be IWGP United States Champion for NJPW since there’s nothing scheduled otherwise, so even if it’s only for a couple weeks, let history in the ENTIRE world of wrestling be made where he is AEW World AND IWGP US Champion at the same time.

ABSLER: This one could go either way. While Jericho is a great champion and hasn’t held the title for a super long time, Moxley is one of wrestling’s biggest stars and he is hot right now. He is riding a lot of momentum in AEW and regardless of who wins, I think a lot of fans will be happy with the decision. Both guys are well liked and extremely talented. In my opinion, they’re both championship material.

SCAFIDE: Jericho can be champ for 2804 days, surpassing Sammartino’s professional wrestling champion reign in my book. Talk about the heat of a real heel champion. Fans will give up singing along to Judas faster than Marko Stunt’s future WWE in-ring career.

CASSADA: I may sound bias because I’m a Jon Moxley fan, but I feel that he’s going to win the title at Revolution. Moxley’s momentum is red-hot as he keeps fending off The Inner Circle to get his hands on Jericho. Chris has done a great job as AEW’s inaugural champion, and I know fans love him and The Inner Circle. However, I worry that before long Jericho’s gimmick is going to become stale. It’s time for a different champion and a Moxley title reign could be exciting.

COOK: It’s tough for me to argue against Jericho remaining Le Champion. He’s been tremendously entertaining in the role and played a key part in getting AEW off to a good start. With that being said, he’s been champion for over 180 days. That’s a pretty decent length for a title reign. Moxley’s been on a roll since leaving WWE and definitely deserves to be champion. Everybody says that the money is in the chase, but sometimes the chase doesn’t need to be that long. This is one of those occasions.
