Forbidden Door Fallout, Go-Home for Money in the Bank and Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) What was your favorite part of Forbidden Door?

Will Ospreay vs. Kenny Omega was definitely my favorite match. That’s gone on my Match of the Year candidates list for AEW. As much as I was thinking Kazuchika Okada vs. Bryan Danielson would be the better of the two, I don’t think that ended up being the case. Now, I’m even more excited to see Omega vs. Ospreay III, which I’d assume will probably go down at Wrestle Kingdom.

2) What other matches, if any, do you think will be added to the Money in the Bank card?

Gunther against Matt Riddle for the Intercontinental Championship feels like a given. That’s the only match I feel 100% confident will take place.

As far as I’m aware, the women’s tag title match isn’t confirmed for this event, right? While there’s a good chance that just happens on SmackDown to try to bump a rating, I do think that’s one of the standout missing elements (having Ronda Rousey on the show, I mean) that they could put in there.

Other than that, I think the card is full. WWE typically doesn’t have more than that 7-9 range and if both of those are put there, that makes it 7. The tag team title match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Pretty Deadly is happening on SmackDown, so that rules that out, and nobody’s been a go-to challenger for Austin Theory’s United States title.

It’s a bit odd we don’t have either of the women’s championships on the line, but that might be specifically to avoid having them on the card to explain why no cash-in is taking place. But if we do get one of those, I think it’ll be a triple threat with Asuka, Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair.

3) If you had to guess right now, before Raw, who are your 2 picks to win the Money in the Bank ladder matches?

Logan Paul feels like a lock for the men’s briefcase. He can be away from television, which makes it easier to explain why he isn’t cashing in, and when he does, they’ll get some mainstream media coverage for it. He’s also a safe pick to lose the cash-in without the fans being too upset.

The women’s option is much less obvious, I feel. Right now, prior to Raw, I’m leaning in the direction of Iyo Sky, with her possibly even being the one to beat Asuka for a short title reign before it gets snatched up by Charlotte Flair. Then again, Flair could win the belt and be cashed in on just a few days later, or almost immediately if they’re defending on the event, too.

4) Now that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have unified the women’s tag titles, what do you think is the trajectory for that championship?

It seems like they want to have more main roster talent on NXT. My guess is they think Ronda Rousey on that will pop some huge ratings to help with the negotiations for television rights. But I don’t think it’ll be an experiment that will last too long. I fully expect that by SummerSlam, two random singles stars will be put together to beat Rousey and Baszler, who will then start feuding with each other.

If we don’t get Rousey vs. Baszler at SummerSlam, then there’s a chance they do drag that out up until WrestleMania 40, but I wouldn’t trust WWE to have the patience to fill in those months with anything worthwhile. They’d probably just fight random combinations of singles talent every 2 months.

Overall, I don’t expect this unification, nor the champions holding the belts, will lead to anything revolutionizing. I expect the same level of sidelining these titles that we’ve seen from the start.

5) AEW Fight Forever comes out this Thursday. Did you pre-order it or plan on buying it soon?

Nope. I’ve never been a huge gamer, and even then, I’ve never been super high on pro wrestling games. They all feel basically the same to me, and they’re too heavily relied on pressing a combination of buttons at the right time for me to really feel to enthralled. It feels more like playing a puzzle game that isn’t intellectually stimulating, rather than playing an action game that gets my adrenaline going.

However, I’ll be interested to see some people’s reviews of it, so I’ll probably check out a few YouTube videos about that or maybe lurk on someone’s Twitch when they’re playing it at some point.
