NXT TakeOver: Bash at the Beach Needs to Follow SummerSlam 2021

Rumor has it there will be an NXT TakeOver pay-per-view on the day after SummerSlam 2021 (ie, Sunday, August 22nd). It’s yet to be confirmed, nor has there been any announcement regarding its name, but one subtitle is the perfect choice: Bash at the Beach.

It’s so simple that there isn’t any other better option. Nothing else works as well and on as many levels as NXT TakeOver: Bash at the Beach.

The Name Just Fits

SummerSlam is The Biggest Party of the Summer. What’s another word for party? Bash.

Obviously, going to the beach is a summer activity and that imagery evokes the warmth and fun atmosphere WWE is going for with this event.

What else are you going to call it? NXT TakeOver 36? That is so lame in comparison!

It’s too early for Fall Brawl, which some people would be upset about not being combined with WarGames. In my mind, Fall Brawl should return as a separate entity, but it should just be a special episode of something, rather than an event, and it should take place in September to leave room for Halloween Havoc. That’s a story for another day.

It can’t be The Great American Bash. That needs to happen around July 4th.

Sure, you can use some other things like Slamboree or Fully Loaded, or just make something new up, but why bother when you have the perfect answer waiting for you?

The only other answer I’ll accept is if this takes place in Las Vegas and they go with some sort of casino vibe and name.

The Venue

We know NXT TakeOver isn’t going to be at Allegiant Stadium. If that were available, SummerSlam would have just been on Sunday and we wouldn’t have this discussion. Plus, the black and gold brand isn’t going to sell out that big of a venue.

The arena it’ll take place in has to be taken into consideration. There are probably a dozen smaller places that would welcome NXT TakeOver for that weekend and could fit the bill. I’d be fairly certain they’d go with something like the T-Mobile Arena.

But what if WWE could do something more fun and actually hold it outside on a beach of some sort? Mandalay Bay Beach has concerts and is right around Allegiant Stadium, for instance.

It wouldn’t be groundbreaking, as it’s been done before, but it would be unique and something to freshen things up. Plus, it would be safer with COVID for people to be outside in a more ventilated area.

You can even factor the pool into a gimmick match of sorts!

Copyrights and Trademarks

AEW held their own Bash at the Beach when the rights to the name were in limbo. WWE managed to get it back, but they need to actually do something with it or run the risk of creating more of a headache for themselves.

I highly doubt we’ll see it used as a main roster pay-per-view. NXT suits it better and has taken back some of these old names, so it will work more naturally as a TakeOver.

Then, you don’t have to worry about the copyright evaporating in the same sense. You’ve proven you have intent to use it and it can make it an easier case to defend if future errors happen down the line.

Sitting on it and not using it at all means anyone who searches for Bash at the Beach comes up with the most recent example being the rival company. WWE needs to do their own so it can overtake that spot.
