In his latest “Piper’s Pit” podcast, which can be found here, Roddy Piper spoke about his controversy with Steve Austin, which he claims resulted in his podcast getting removed from PodcastOne and his WWE Legends deal being dropped. At the time, Piper said Will Sasso appeared on Piper’s Pit after Wrestlemania and did an impression of Austin. The podcast had a one month hiatus and came back, but not on PodcastOne. Piper said after six hours, the Sasso interview was pulled and Piper was threatened by PodcastOne with termination. When the podcast returned, Sasso did impressions of Austin, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Jim Duggan called in and Sasso did the Austin impression so Duggan could “rip into” him on air. The three joked about Austin’s rumored heat with Vince McMahon, quitting WWE, having only one friend (his dog) and making his career off of the words “What” and “Hell Yeah”. After the episode, claimed he was released from his Legends deal.

During last week’s Steve Austin Show, Austin said he didn’t like the Sasso/Piper podcast because it revealed business-related information that he didn’t want to get out so he asked for that specific episode to be removed from the archives. However, he said he had nothing to do with Piper’s entire show being pulled from PodcastOne or his WWE Legends deal being canceled.

During Piper’s recent podcast, he said: “There was a lot of love in it [the podcast], but I guess not for you [Steve Austin]. That’s my mistake then. Come Monday, when the episode aired, the company had taken down not only the podcast, but all of my podcasts and took me off the air because Steve, you were upset and you went and talked to them. OK, got it. I needed the audience to find me, so I put up the one [the Sasso episode] that you took down. I didn’t mean to offend you in any way, and I still don’t see it. However, I don’t need to. If you got offended by it, then I am sorry for whatever; I didn’t get it I guess, so I got out. It’s that simple. So for you, I’ve got all the respect in the world for what you’ve done. I hope you do all the things that you want to, and Hershey the Wonder Dog [laughs]. I don’t want to deal with it anymore. So I’m done with it, I didn’t lie about anything, and my heart’s in the right place in my life, and I’ve got my family on my side.”

He added that he talked to the head of PodcastOne who said that the podcasts were removed and he couldn’t talk about Austin. He was also told that he was going to be fired but eventually it was decided to keep him. He said he felt censored and didn’t want to work under those conditions, so he found a new home instead. He concluded that there was a three week period with no new episodes.
