Top Five Matches For Daniel Bryan

The WWE Universe was shocked to find out on Tuesday that Daniel Bryan would be returning to the squared circle after overcoming his horrific injuries and getting cleared by WWE medical staff. Something that just a few weeks earlier seemed impossible, is now a reality. Our favorite underdog is back and here are the top five matches that Daniel Bryan should have upon his return!

Honorable Mentions-

  • Kurt Angle
  • Finn Balor

5. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Starting with number five, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon seems like a match that will likely happen at Wrestlemania 34. After Owens and Zayn brutally attacked Shane on SDL two weeks ago, Daniel Bryan fired them only to be just as brutally attacked. Now the commissioner and general manager can both agree that although Zayn and Owens are top dogs on SDL, they have no right putting their hands on their bosses.

4. Shinsuke Nakamura

The 2018 Royal Rumble winner vs Daniel Bryan would be a technical spectacle if it happened in the ring. With both men possessing devastating kicks and some of the highest ring IQ’s in the world, this match has 5-stars written all over it. The returning Daniel Bryan vs Nakamura could be a great way for Bryan to prove to the fans that he’s still got it.

3. AJ Styles

Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles would no doubt be an instant classic. This match is guaranteed to receive “this is awesome” chants before the two even lock up to begin the match. Besides most fans thinking they would never see this match under the WWE umbrella, I believe that AJ Styles has tried to fill the shoes of Daniel Bryan over the period of his absence. It would be legendary to see two of the greatest on earth right now go toe to toe to find out who the better man is.

2. Brock Lesnar

Daniel Bryan has expressed in the past that his dream match would have to be against Brock Lesnar. At Fastlane 2015, Roman Reigns faced Daniel Bryan for the right to Main Event Wrestlemania against Lesnar. Unfortunately, Bryan lost and Roman went on to headline the Show of Shows. Not long after that, Bryan was told that he must retire. Now that he’s back, however, Bryan can hopefully square off against The Beast Incarnate before he is possibly out the door and into the UFC octagon. Lesnar’s size and strength vs Bryan’s heart and technical skills would make for a classic underdog story that many fans could easily get behind.

1. The Miz

Despite being treated like one, The Miz is no joke. I am the first person to say I was wrong about The Miz. I never liked him, in fact, I spent almost five years with The Awesome One on the bottom of my list. But I couldn’t ignore him any longer. The Miz is really good. He made me his fan. I didn’t want to be, but he made me his fan through his hard work, constant improvement in the ring, and world-class mic skills.

The second Bryan retired, Miz has been egging him on non stop, culminating with the best promo of his career on Talking Smack. The Miz has gone as far as using Daniel’s signature “YES” kicks in his matches and claiming them as his own. This match has so much realism and emotion built into it, I wouldn’t mind seeing Bryan and Miz square off at Wrestlemania, even though that isn’t possible this year.
