What Matches Should Be Added to SummerSlam’s Card? (Monday Morning Q&A)

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) Following NXT Great American Bash, who would be your picks to next challenge for all the titles at NXT No Mercy coming up in September?

  • NXT Championship – Hayes defending against X
  • NXT Women’s Championship – Prediction would be that Tiffany Stratton defends against Lyra Valkyria, but if you asked me who I’d prefer, I’d potentially do a multi-woman match. I don’t think anyone’s in a strong enough position to really command that spot right now.
  • NXT Tag Team Championship – Stacks and Tony D have already fought so many people that I’d love to bring in some new faces. However, I don’t think Bronco Nima and Lucien Price are ready for that. Hold off on them. So let’s go with maybe just finishing out any leftover heat with Schism’s Dyad, maybe?
  • NXT Heritage Cup – I’d get rid of the title if I had any say in it. But since I don’t, Nathan Frazer defends against Charlie Dempsey. Prediction, though, is that the Noam Dar thing is still going on.
  • NXT North American Championship – Mysterio against Dragon Lee

2) What other matches, if any, do you think will be added to the SummerSlam card?

Becky Lynch against Trish Stratus still isn’t confirmed, so that’s one of them, and potentially it. We know the United States Championship is going to be defended on SmackDown instead, so that gets rid of Austin Theory vs. Santos Escobar. With Kevin Owens injured, you can kiss the tag team titles away from this lineup. And then, who cares about the women’s tag titles, particularly with no one set up to challenge Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green?

I wholly expect the only updates to the card to be the addition of Becky vs Trish and then, a stipulation for Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar. Nothing more.

3) What are your predictions for AEW’s 200th Dynamite episode?

  • Jon Moxley beats Trent Beretta and Penta
  • Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara beat Chris Jericho and Konosuke Takeshita, leading to Jericho rejecting the Don Callis stuff to set up a match against Will Ospreay to come at All In
  • Jack Perry’s face-to-face with Jerry Lynn just leads to Hook going after Perry
  • Toni Storm retains the AEW Women’s World Championship over Hikaru Shida
  • Aussie Open retain their ROH tag titles over Vikingo and Komander

4) Following this feud with Ricochet, who would you put Logan Paul up against next, and at what show?

For the most part, Logan Paul seems to be a featured act that only pops up on big events. Logically, we can skip past Payback, NXT No Mercy, and Fastlane. The next Saudi Arabia show hasn’t been announced, but I would assume Crown Jewel is coming sometime in late October, early November, and that we’ll see him there, as he’s more likely to show up in that capacity than at Survivor Series on November 25th. Then, he’ll be back at Royal Rumble in January, naturally.

As far as his opponent goes, I think it depends a lot on what WWE has planned for the future. My gut would tell me Cody Rhodes, but if there’s any chance The American Nightmare is going to be the one to beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 (maybe, if that doesn’t just drag out even longer), then I’d save Rhodes vs. Paul for a title match.

So let’s assume Cody’s off the table. My next go-to choice would be a feud with AJ Styles. They’d have a great match. Bobby Lashley could be another option, though, as could Edge, if they want to have The Rated R Superstar on the card.

Eventually, I want to see Logan Paul against Gunther, but since that’s a heel vs heel thing, it might not be a great option to do just yet.

5) Do you think there’s anything to the idea of The Rock having a segment with Grayson Waller at SummerSlam, or do you think all that is complete nonsense?

I don’t buy into it pretty much whatsoever. It wouldn’t shock me if someone pitched that at a writer’s meeting and it didn’t get far at all beyond that, though. The Rock isn’t likely to have his schedule as packed right now due to the strikes in Hollywood, so maybe he’s able to fit it in and they’ll just go for that as a surprise, but I think they’d be advertising the crap out of it if that were ready to go.

Instead, I think Waller is going to be in the battle royal and possibly win that, or at least come close to winning it.

Let us know your thoughts about these questions by answering them in the comments!
