Wrestling Made Simple: Why Triple H as champ is Best for Business

Triple H surprising Royal Rumble win (well surprising to some…*looks to my right*) officially begin “The Road to WrestleMania”. Now while some would be a little annoyed by Triple H becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the 14th time, I look at it differently. This could be the smartest thing the WWE could have done given the circumstances and it’s also “Best for Business”. Far be it from me to love when McMahon family members puts themselves in the limelight unnecessarily. Over the years between Vince, Shane, and Stephanie; you have seen them win the Royal Rumble, the ECW title, the European Title, the Women’s Title, and Vince even made people literally kiss his ass. Some of this stuff never made sense and seemed to only be done to stroke the McMahons’ egos. But tonight (01/24/2016) was different. Putting the title on Triple H was very necessary. Here’s why I feel it was the possible scenario for the WWE.

No Viable Superstars to Place on Wrestling’s Grandest Stage

Take a look at the current WWE roster. It look like the Walking Dead these days. So many top stars are injured which includes John Cena, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, and Sting. Although The Rock is scheduled to be at WrestleMania…movie obligations will prohibit him from being a active wrestling at AT&T Stadium. That doesn’t leave the WWE with too many options. Could you do a rematch of last year’s WrestleMania main event, Reigns vs. Lesnar? Yeah…but that match is more likely to take place at SummerSlam as the WWE looks to make that event a WrestleMania like event. But there is one more reason why Roman/Brock II isn’t the best option…(please see below)

Lack of Top Heels

Both Brock and Roman are fan favorites (uh…kinda) so having them face off doesn’t leave much to the imagination of the rest of the WrestleMania card. I mean on the current, active WWE roster who are the top heels? Go ahead…name one. I’ll wait. Sheamus? Please…he was nothing more than a transitional champion and no one cared about him being champ. The New Day? Yeah…they get more cheers than the “good guys” who are supposed to be cheered. Bray Wyatt…sure but the Wyatt Family vs. Roman Reigns was done for 4 months (which was far too long I feel) last year. No one wants to see that again. Honestly the group that gets the most negative reaction from the crowd is the McMahon family. Which by default makes Triple H the biggest bad guy in the company…unless you want Vince McMahon’s 70 year old ass going up against Roman Reigns…yeah, I didn’t think so.

Helps Establish Roman Reigns as a Superstar

Remember not too long ago Roman Reigns was supposed to be a crowd favorite, but he was booed in virtually every arena the WWE had a show in. Last year’s Royal Rumble, Reigns got booed out of the Wells Fargo Center so badly that The Rock standing by his side couldn’t get him over. At WrestleMania 31, the crowd literally chanted “Thank you Rollins” after he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract essentially stealing the title from Reigns. Not to mention the boos that Mr. “Believe That” received when Roman seemingly was going to become the 2015 Money in the Bank winner before Bray Wyatt’s “Anyone but you, Roman” campaign begin costing him that match as well. Remember what turned the jeers to cheers and helped the WWE universe embrace Reigns?

Survivor Series 2015

When at the end of this event, Roman Reigns beat Triple H into oblivion! This beat down showed an aggressive side to Roman never seen before and it didn’t hurt that he beat up a guy who was asking for it. I mean who hasn’t dreamed of super kicking or superman punching their boss. Starting this Reigns/Triple H program will only help Roman’s stock. It’s only a recipe that has worked for the last 30 years. So why not roll with it. With Roman eventually getting the win at WrestleMania 32 against Triple H, then you can reintroduce Seth Rollins (who hopefully will be back by then) into the equation and Triple H goes back to being a full-time COO.

But those are just my thoughts…right or wrong…just what I was feeling at the time!!!
