Serena Deeb made her AEW debut on September 2, 2020, on Dynamite, where she lost to then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa in her first match since 2017.
Deeb hasn’t been seen in almost a year. She was regularly featured on AEW television until she worked the AEW Dark: Elevation taping on October 18, 2022.
There were reports last month about Deeb having some backstage heat before disappearing from television.
Fightful Select is reporting that the former NWA Women’s Champion was backstage at last Saturday’s AEW Collision TV tapings. People mentioned that they hadn’t seen her at any AEW shows this year.
Two versions are circulating about the reason for her hiatus – one suggesting a significant disagreement with AEW management in 2022 and the other claiming she was sidelined with an injury this year, as she has told fellow wrestlers.
