Pwinsider is reporting that even though AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door III was moved to the UBS Arena in Long Island, there are still plans for AEW to return to Arthur Ashe Stadium this year. There was a plan for a pay-per-view event at the venue last year, but it will likely be a TV taping this fall.
As for Forbidden Door III, the current plan is to use NJPW, STARDOM, and CMLL wrestlers.
Mercedes Mone is set to have her first match at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. The attack angle on Dynamite was done to commence her storyline for that show.
As for why AEW released their pay-per-view event schedule early, it was because they wanted to allow fans who wish to travel enough time to do so.
