Will Ospreay beat Kota Ibushi to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Title in the main event of Sunday’s NJPW Sakura Genesis event. This was the first defense of the title since the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Titles were unified.
The finish of the match saw Ospreay connect with the stormbreak. There was an angle after the match where Ospreay confirmed he would face Shingo Takagi next and then Kazuchika Okada at a later date.
