AEW announced the signing of Ric Flair to a multi-year deal on Thursday, and the WWE Hall of Famer’s Wooooo! Energy drink was named the official energy drink of All Elite Wrestling.

Fightful Select has shared some additional details on Flair’s contract with AEW.

The report suggests that Flair’s AEW deal is similar to the one “Macho Man” Randy Savage signed with WCW in the mid-1990s.

Part of Flair’s contract is also a deal with the Wooooo! Energy drink that will cover a hefty amount, if not all, of Flair’s contract salary for AEW.

When Savage left WWE for WCW in late 1994, he brought a lucrative Slim Jim sponsorship along with him.

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff previously stated that the Slim Jim deal paid a significant portion of Savage’s WCW salary when he signed at the time.

Flair’s brand as well as the huge merchandising potential were cited as the key factors behind AEW signing the sixteen-time world champion.

The ability to use Flair in merchandise, action figures, and video games has been cited as a solid reason to sign the 74-year-old legend.

Flair wrestled his last match (we think?!) in July 2022 and made his AEW debut last week on Dynamite as a gift from Tony Khan to Sting, who will be retiring at AEW Revolution 2024.
