AEW wrestler Dax Harwood has said that his tag-team partner Cash Wheeler considered leaving professional wrestling entirely last year.

Harwood and Wheeler, who worked as Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder in WWE, joined AEW in 2020, and are former AEW World Tag Team Champions.

Speaking on The Walkway to Fight Club podcast, Harwood said that Wheeler wanted to leave after suffering a serious cut on his forearm during a match with Santana and Ortiz. He said,

“Cash tore his arm open and I watched him almost bleed out and then at the same time, I was going through this dark period of anxiety and I had no idea how to handle it.

“He called me after the arm thing and he was in tears man. He’ll still kick everybody’s ass so don’t mistake that. He called me in tears and he was like, ‘Hey, I just want you to know that I think that I’m ready to retire.”

FTR was recently cut from the upcoming AEW: Fight Forever video game, which is expected to release for consoles later this year.
