Fightful Select reported on the original plans for this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown. On Friday night, WWE also taped matches for the Christmas Eve episode of SmackDown.
Roman Reigns was originally set to open WWE SmackDown with an in-ring promo on Friday night, but that was moved to the main event spot. The Usos vs. The New Day was slated internally to main event, and was moved up a segment.
A Brock Lesnar sit-down interview, which didn’t happen whatsoever, was planned for Friday’s SmackDown.
Additionally, the Shotzi & Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks & Toni Storm match that kicked off SmackDown was internally slated to main event next week’s show. The Toni Storm vs. Charlotte Flair “Championship Contender’s” match was planned for this week’s show, but pushed back a week.
