Chris Jericho – ‘It’s Like I’m The David Bowie Of Pro Wrestling’

Chris Jericho believes his wrestling career is akin to music legend David Bowie, who like Jericho, was able to reinvent himself throughout his tenure time and again.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Jericho spoke about his career in the ring and compared himself to the man once known as Ziggy Stardust. He said,

“Not that I’m even close, but I always kind of look for inspiration in David Bowie. It’s like I’m the David Bowie of wrestling … Because Bowie always changed his look, his gimmick, his sound, his presentation. But the essence was still always Bowie. You never knew what you were going to get from him. You could say, ‘F**k. I love the ‘Let’s Dance’ era of Bowie. Why’s he not playing any of this, and he’s forming a rock band called Tin Machine and playing a guitar? Why would you do that?’ It’s like, ‘F**k, who else would do that? That’s completely ignoring your biggest record and starting a band.'”

Jericho has been with AEW since day one and became the promotion’s first World Champion in 2019. He is also a former WWE & ROH World Champion.

In April of this year, Jericho shared his love for Bowie by getting a tattoo of the musical legend. Bowie passed away in 2016.
