CM Punk has taken to his Instagram page to make yet another tease regarding his potential return to wrestling. Posting a story on his social media page, Punk posted a series of three dates: 05, 11 and 21. You can see the tease below:

The meaning behind these dates has been speculated to be one of two things.
The first theory is that they are the dates he:
- Signed with WWE (2005)
- Re-signed with WWE (2011)
- Potentially signs with AEW (2021)
The second theory relates to the dates representing the two ‘Summers of Punk’, with the 21 representing a potential third. The first ‘Summer of Punk’ occurred in ROH in 2005, and was Punk’s last hurrah before he left to join WWE. Famously the angle saw CM Punk sign his WWE contract on the ROH World Championship. The second ‘Summer of Punk’ occurred six years later, this time in WWE. It is perhaps most fondly remembered for Punk’s ‘pipebomb’ promo, as well as him winning the WWE Championship as he left the company at Money in the Bank 2011. Now in 2021 could we see history repeat itself a third time, this time in AEW?

It is worth noting that Andrew Zarian of the MatMen Podcast today commented that Punk’s return on this week’s episode of AEW Rampage was a lock. Replying to a tweet speculating on Punk’s return, where he said “It’s happening Friday”.
