Cody Rhodes won an ESPY Award on Wednesday for capturing the Best WWE Moment of the Year. This was for his return at WrestleMania 38. In a WWE digital exclusive, Rhodes discussed his reaction to winning the award.
He said returning was “the best decision” he’s made in his wrestling career, while also teasing that he knows what moment may give him the opportunity to win the award at the 2023 ESPY Awards.
“It’s very stirring,” Cody Rhodes said. “I was just excited to be nominated, and it was a significant moment for me. It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my wrestling career coming back. But I’m nominated with guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and John Cena, so to be the one that’s taking home the WWE Moment of the Year, feels good. It’s a little bit of that new blood.
I’m still angry Cody from 2015, so to be able to show up and they voted for me – it’s definitely not something I take for granted. If anything, it’s kind of positioned me where I’m looking at 2023. I’ve enjoyed this red carpet enough that I need to be back, so you’ve got to find another moment, and I think I know what that moment might be as far as getting back for another ESPY for WWE Moment of the Year.”
