On last night’s episode of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles cut a promo on WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. “The Phenomenal One” called out Bryan for not being at work, comparing him to some part-time talents over on Monday Night RAW. Bryan took to Twitter to respond, and suggested he’s above wrestling over 200 matches a year in WWE at this point in his career:

“The old Daniel Bryan wrestled 227 matches in a calendar year, much more than AJ has ever done in his career. Shortly thereafter he needed neck surgery. The New Daniel Bryan is above that sort of masochism.”

Bryan defeated Styles for the WWE Title on SDL a few weeks ago. He hit Styles with a low blow when the referee was down, before nailing Styles with a flying knee for the win. A few days later, Bryan lost to Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Now, Bryan will defend the WWE Title in a rematch against Styles at next month’s Tables Ladders and Chairs (TLC) pay-per-view (PPV).
