Darby Allin wrestled MJF at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, MN at the Target Center.
Allin recently did an interview with PWInsider about the praise the match received and their mentality heading into it. This is where he also talked about the importance of AEW originals at a time where AEW is bringing in a lot of new talent. He said,
“I had a lot going into that match. I wanted to remind people, the fans, the whole wrestling world that no matter who comes into AEW, the AEW originals are going to steal the show. We did just that, I don’t care what anyone says. You give me the ball, you’re never going to see the ball again. All I needed was a chance. Once I got that chance, I was going to take off running. Going into that match, I had a lot to prove and I felt like I proved it and more,” he said. “Just my perspective. I don’t give a damn what anyone else is doing in the locker room, I don’t even talk to people really that much backstage. This is my own mind, just me thinking and giving the company like AEW, a place where I’ve been able to thrive, and constantly remind everybody what I’m capable of doing.”
