UPDATE: At the closing bell on Monday, WWE stock was at $87.20 per share, up from the $86.95 price it opened at. So everything worked out in the end …. at least for now!
To begin the day on Monday, it appeared that John Oliver’s HBO piece on WWE was taking a toll on their stock. According to a report from Cannonball Research analyst Vasily Karasyov, WWE shares dropped 2.9% and the stock was downgraded from “Buy” to “Neutral” with an $88 price target.
As we previously reported, Oliver called out WWE in a 23-minute long segment during his HBO show on Sunday night. He called out Vince McMahon and WWE for their treatment of wrestlers. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can do so below:
