Eric Bischoff may be consistently impressed by Cody Rhodes but believes the American Nightmare’s involvement with this week’s episode of WWE NXT was somewhat underwhelming.
On this week’s stacked edition of NXT, Rhodes announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic & Men’s Breakout Tournament and served as the guest General Manager for the night.
During a recent edition of his “Strictly Business” podcast, Bischoff discussed Rhodes’ work on the show. He said,
“I was a little disappointed in the Cody Rhodes segment. Cody does an amazing job, Cody Rhodes is in a class all of his own. Totally, getting better by the minute, but it wasn’t enough to really make me want to stick around for the main event. I mean, obviously, I did for other reasons, but it was a seven on what could have been a ten. In terms of what that segment should have and would have been designed to do. Absolutely, nothing wrong with it, but it — they left a lot on the table.”
Bischoff’s co-host added that Rhodes’ role on NXT was a cameo for the sake of a cameo, which Bischoff agreed with.
WWE NXT would score 921,000 viewers, the third-highest viewership for the gold brand, and comfortably beat AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday.
