HOUSE OF TORTURE defeated The Gates Of Agony on the ninth night of the 2023 NJPW World Tag League, and Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona cut a post-match promo to address the loss.
The Gates Of Agony had briefly joined the faction earlier this week but turned on them soon after leading up to Friday’s match, which saw HOUSE OF TORTURE use weapons and a low blow to score the victory.
Kaun said after the match, “To defeat the enemy, you gotta become the enemy. We surveyed the landscape, and from day one, we were outnumbered by Bullet Club. By day one, we were outnumbered by HOUSE OF TORTURE. But EVIL, you are so arrogant and so greedy, we walked right through your door and we were going to set ablaze, we were going to burn your house down. It took obscene tactics, it took obscene actions for y’all to defeat us. It took all five of you to defeat us. You feared the Gates. Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL, SHO, you had everybody out there. Dick Togo, you had a low blow, kill the ref, use weapons, to defeat us. You had to do everything to pin me.
This is not our last time in the World Tag League. I don’t care if it’s it’s the Rogue Army. I don’t care if it’s the HOUSE OF TORTURE. I don’t care if it’s the War Dogs. I don’t care if it’s Bullet Club Gold. Because it’s always and forever…”
Chris Hero returned to the ring against Timothy Thatcher at West Coast Pro Whiplash, and he discussed choosing Thatcher as his opponent on a recent edition of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast.

On returning against Thatcher: “He is just a tough, physical man. He has that catch wrestler thing about him, that Billy Robinson [style]. He’s so strong and physical, and his technique is exceptional. I just thought it would be a great test for me to go up against somebody that I’m familiar with, but at the same time, I know he’s not going to take it easy on me. It felt like the perfect situation for me, somebody that I have history with, somebody that can get people interested in us having another match.”
On the promotion done for the bout: Also, the work that other people put in to promote the match. Joseph Monticello made a nice rivalry video, a video essay. IQ Wrestler put together this kick ass music video just flashing through our seven matches that we had had prior. A lot of people wrote pieces, I did a bunch of interviews, and he’s somebody that I had history with and that I knew I wanted to wrestle again. That show that I announced myself as matchmaker, he wrestled Speedball Mike Bailey. Those are two guys that are uniquely them. What they bring to the table, if you want what they have, you can only get it from them. You can get people that have similarities, but they’re just so iconically themselves.”
