At the NJPW Collision in Philadelphia event on Sunday, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito paired up and emerged victorious against the Bullet Club team comprising of Chase Owens and KENTA. During the post-match press conference, Takahashi expressed his desire to work the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II event scheduled for June of this year. He said,
“Also, since I’m in America, let me tell you this. I couldn’t go because I did it all the time. But there will be this year too. Maybe June, FORBIDDEN DOOR. I really want to go. Today, I had Bullet Club with me, so I didn’t bring Daryl. Well, Daryl Jr. is currently on an expedition to the United States. Should we let him return home in triumph? It’s not a triumphant return home. I wonder if the time will come when we can show the power of Daryl Jr. in USA. No, what do you think? I don’t even know if it’s going to happen or not.”
It’s worth noting that Takahashi was initially set to team up with Sting and Darby Allin at the first Forbidden Door pay-per-view event. However, he couldn’t make it due to a fever and subsequent travel restrictions.
In other news, Takahashi is all set for another massive career matchup on May 3. He is scheduled to challenge IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA for his title at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka.
The second edition of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is scheduled for June 25 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
