On February 21, Keiji Muto will wrestle the final match of his professional wrestling career against Tetsuya Naito at the Keiji Muto Grand Final Pro Wrestling “Last-Love” event.

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi joked that if his mentor Keiji Muto is retiring at the age of 60, then he will wrestle until he is 61. He said,

“If Muto-san retires at 60, I will wrestle until I am 61. I will aim to surpass Muto until the end.”

Tanahashi has stated that his goal is to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship by 2024, and he is aiming to challenge for the prestigious title this year. The 46-year-old wrestler also stated that he will hang up his boots when he no longer sees the need to challenge for any titles.

Tanahashi also stated that Mutoh was 46 when the two of them fought for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, the same age he is now.
