As seen at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network, Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Title. This marks the first time that Reigns has held the title and likely the last appearance for Lesnar in the WWE as he is set to fight Daniel Cormier in the UFC for the heavyweight title in January.
Before the match, Braun Strowman came out and stated that he would cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase after this match. However, that would not take place as Lesnar took him out. Reigns closed the show by celebrating in the ring.
