Former WWE Diva Joy Giovanni felt devastated when she was given the news of her release from the promotion in 2005.

Giovanni placed third in WWE’s 2004 Diva Search competition, but was offered a contract anyway, but was released from WWE in the Summer of ’05.

Appearing on The A2theK Wrestling Show, Giovanni reflected on her release. She said,

“I was pretty devastated when I found out I was released. From what I understand, I was kind of the last of that bunch of 50 of us that were all released. I think I might’ve been the very last phone call. In fact, my bags were packed by my door to go to the airport in the morning. I was supposed to go out for TV the next day.

“The thing that most people don’t know is that I had just agreed to fully commit to them and go on the road full-time, which was not part of my initial deal.”

Giovanni added that though it may sound ridiculous, she felt betrayed by her release as she gave up her career to go full-time with WWE, and felt bitter for years after.

Giovanni would make a one-off return to WWE in April 2009 to compete as part of the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania 25.

The ex-WWE Diva has otherwise kept clear from wrestling since then, and the trained massage therapist opened her own massage therapy business in 2014.
