On WWE SmackDown tonight Shane McMahon Proclaimed himself as the replacement for Elias in the 2019 King of the Ring tournament. to try to sweeten the deal, he appointed Kevin Owens as referee and promised that the $100,000 fine levied on to Kevin would be taken away as long as Kevin did the right thing.
Sure enough, the match went on as scheduled and Chad Gable would tap Shane McMahon out to the ankle lock. Gable will now go on to face Baron Corbin for the King of the Ring Crown but it is unclear right now as to whether or not that match will take place on Monday Night Raw or the Clash of Champions pay-per-view this Sunday.
As for Kevin Owens, he was fired by Shane McMahon for insubordination. It will be interesting to see how the story plays out
