At the WWE SummerSlam 2023 pay-per-view event, Logan Paul bested Ricochet in a singles match, and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was left dissatisfied following the result.
Speaking on his “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, Angle shared that while he understands why Paul was given the “W” at a stage as big as SummerSlam, he wants Ricochet to be given more of a chance to succeed and excel on the main roster. He said,
“You know what, I understand why, you know, he’s a part-timer, and he’s a YouTuber, and he’s, you know, he’s famous because of his boxing and all that stuff. But I, you know, give Ricochet a chance, chance, you know, something like this could highlight his career. But don’t get me wrong, Paul, Logan Paul is an incredible athlete. I heard he had to use Nunchucks to win the match. Right. Which is a kind of protected Ricochet.”
Angle also discussed IYO SKY’s WWE Women’s Championship win at the show, where she instantly cashed in her MITB contract on new champion Bianca Belair to win her first singles title on the main roster. He said,
“It was a double swerve. Yeah, it wasn’t a bad idea, though. If they like the SKY girl, you know, this was a right, this is what I’m talking about. When you have new stars, and you want to make them, you have to make them while the iron’s hot; this girl’s hot right now; put her in there, have her win the world title, and get her over, get her, working as champ, get her a long reign as champion. And now you have another huge star in your company.”
