As many of you know by now, Paul Wight (The Big Show in WWE) has signed a long-term contract with AEW and will be making his official debut on next week’s episode of Dynamite.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter on Wednesday, congratulating his good friend and revealing why he thinks Wight decided to jump ship to AEW. He said,

“Wishing the very best to my friend @PaulWight on his signing with @aewing4Cbeath. I’m guessing the big fella thought he had done all there was to do in @WWE – and that he still had some gas left in the tank.”

As we reported yesterday here on eWn, Wight’s contract with WWE came to an end last month and the two sides were unable to come to terms on a new deal financially. Also, there was a segment with Randy Orton on the January 4th “Legends Night” episode of RAW where Orton mocked him for being ‘retired’. Wight was said to have been “very open” about being unhappy about that segment and his status in the company. While WWE didn’t publicly announce his departure or wish him well, he was quietly moved to the Alumni section of WWE.com on February 19th.
