According to a recent report from Fightful Select, there have been verified discussions between Kota Ibushi and All Elite Wrestling recently. Speculation has been circulating within the company that Ibushi might have some involvement with AEW, particularly in relation to the upcoming AEW Blood & Guts match, but no official confirmation has been given.
There are indications that Ibushi might soon return to the ring, as his media commitments have been reduced. A reliable source close to Kota mentioned that he has intentions to participate in Blood & Guts. Since late 2021, Ibushi has been absent from regular wrestling due to injuries and his public disagreements with NJPW. However, it has been reported that Ibushi has resolved his issues with NJPW, and a new contract is being discussed.
Ibushi has a storied history with Kenny Omega, and with The Elite looking for a partner at the event, a reunion of ‘The Golden Lovers’ seems imminent. Following last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Omega teased that he went “to recruit an old friend, somebody who’s very near and dear to my heart,” which was interpreted as a reference to Kota Ibushi.
