We have a big update regarding plans for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania: Backlash and for a roster merger between RAW and SmackDown.

Dave Meltzer has provided an update on current plans for WWE to merge the RAW and SmackDown brands. Despite the initial thought of their being a merger after Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE and Universal Championships, there are no plans to merge the rosters at this time.

The Usos will be facing RK-Bro in a WWE Tag Team Championship Unification match at WrestleMania: Backlash. The plan seems to be to have one title represent both brands, but as always Vince McMahon could change his mind on all of this and go in a different direction. So far, no one behind the scenes in WWE has heard of any discussions on roster mergers, outside of the possibility of more title unification (such as the RAW & SmackDown Women’s Titles, for example, being unified).

Roman Reigns is set to headline WrestleMania: Backlash, but no opponent has been penciled in at this point and no program has been started for Reigns since WrestleMania 38. With WrestleMania: Backlash being less than three weeks away, it seems likely that if WWE is planning for some sort of angle with Reigns for the upcoming show they will have to start something this Friday on SmackDown, or on Monday Night RAW the following week.

WWE WrestleMania: Backlash 2022 is scheduled for May 8th. The event will be broadcast live on Peacock and the WWE Network (internationally) and will be held at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
