Back in April, it was reported that Eric Young had been under contract with WWE since November of last year. Despite this, he hadn’t made any appearances on television.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Young actually departed WWE several months after he signed. The former Impact Wrestling star reportedly requested his release and it was granted.

When Triple H took control of WWE creative, he reached out to Young about a potential return. “EY” wound up leaving Impact Wrestling in October and then signed with WWE the following month. While he wasn’t being used, he requested his release in April. As noted above, the release was granted and he finished his 90-day non-compete clause just last week.

The report states that Young requested his release from the company after the announcement was made that Endeavor would be acquiring WWE. The reason Young requested his release is because he simply did not want to work with Vince McMahon in any capacity. Young reportedly had “moral, creative and personal” reasons as to why he didn’t want to work with the WWE Chairman. While the company did have creative plans for him following WrestleMania 39, there is no word on exactly what was planned.

Finally, it was said that Eric Young is backstage at tonight’s Impact Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view event and it’s possible we’ll be seeing him appear.
