According to a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara will be the first match for AEW Dynamite. As of this writing, the plan is to have the match open the show without any promos, etc. AEW officials want to kick off their first show with in-ring action. The idea is that Cody vs. Guevara will deliver a great match.
With that being said, the replay will air next Saturday after having the Warriors vs. Lakers NBA preseason game as a lead-in. There will not be a post-game show for the NBA game and once the game ends, they will go right into the AEW replay. The company thinks that with an exciting match, they can grab new viewers.
The plan right now is to feature the five announced matches, as well as several big angles. As of right now, there aren’t any backstage segments planned but talking and angles will be part of the show. Of course, they can easily add a backstage segment or two if they’d like but it’s not in the cards as of now.

* Cody vs. Sammy Guevara
* MJF vs. Brandon Cutler (expected to be a showcase for MJF)
* Riho vs. Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s Title
* PAC vs. Hangman Page
* Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho & two mystery partners (rumored to be LAX’s Ortiz & Santana. Of course, they won’t be called LAX in AEW though.)
